Peru
Peru, a country with an incredible amount of culture. A history of the Incas that you can see throughout the entire country. One of the highlights of this culture: Machu Picchu. One of my greatest adventures in Peru was, therefore, the Inca Trail that, in three days, takes you through the mountains to the gate that leads to Machu Picchu.
Furthermore, Peru is home to the Andes Mountains. For me, the Andes Mountains were a very special moment; I experienced a feeling like never before—I felt small. The Andes Mountains are so immensely large, and each mountain is imposing in its own right. Walking through them was nothing short of magical for me.
The charming cities with friendly Peruvians make Peru unforgettable.
Peruvians
So far, Peru is the only country I have visited in South America, so I can't compare it to other countries. What struck me the most was the clothing of the Peruvian residents. The vibrant colors they wear are hard to miss. Many of these clothes are made by the individuals themselves. As you walk through the cities of Peru, you will notice that many shops feature handmade items.
Inca trail
The Inca Trail is a long hike lasting about 4 days, traversing through the Andes Mountains. The trail begins near the Peruvian city of Cuzco and guides you to the Sun Gate of Machu Picchu. From there, you have a breathtaking view of the ancient Inca city. The hike is not easy; due to the altitudes, altitude sickness may occur, and there are occasionally steep uphill sections. For a physically fit person, this trek is highly recommended!
Andes mountains
The Andes Mountains is a mountain range along the west coast of South America, spanning across various countries, including Peru. A visit to Peru is incomplete without exploring the Andes Mountains. Walking through this mountain range is surreal, as you'll feel quite small amidst the towering peaks. Be sure to go well-prepared; you wouldn't want to get lost in these mountains!
Peruvian desert
In the desert of Peru, you'll find a small oasis called Huacachina. Walking or driving through it and sandboarding down the desert hills is an incredible experience. At the end of the day, you can enjoy a sunset with a view over Huacachina.
